Farm Assistant

The farm milks 540 pedigree cows on a 7:2 roster throughout the year. 250 cows are being transitioned to a newly installed robotic milking system. The remainder of the milking herd are milked through a 40 a/s herringbone traditional system. The farm also run a split calving (Autumn & Spring) with the spring calving cows calving indoors. The free-stall barn is utilised for wintering and winter milking. The R1 and R2's are also all wintered in separate barns, with only beef cattle and small portion of animals on crop for winter. Cultivation/silage is all done in house, which gives plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and have a great variety in the role. Alongside this the farm raise young stock and beef cows. The farm provides a wide variety of farming tasks with the opportunity to gain knowledge in different farming areas. Having at least 1-2 years NZ Dairy experience would be preferred.
