Job description

The Pukekohe team grow a variety of plants, including potatoes, onions and carrots, and we are looking to fill one position which is responsible for the broccolini crop. The Crop Supervisor’s role is to primarily lead the team while also having technical crop responsibilities. The Crop Supervisor will support the Production Manager with leadership and management demands and also develop and deliver sound leadership to the overall team. Technical crop responsibilities of this role will be supported by the Production Manager and Crop Managers when required. Responsibilities in this role include but are not limited to tasks such as ground preparation, seed management, planting, harvesting and planning of annual crops. There are also aspects of staff management including recruitment and training. Candidates will have a sound working knowledge of machinery operation across a range of cropping functions and will have working knowledge of machinery maintenance. In order to thrive in this position, you must possess qualities such as enthusiasm, innovation, motivation, and strong teamwork abilities. Additionally, you should possess excellent people management and organisation skills. It is crucial that you have experience in technical skills of crop production and can be adept with machinery, as the fleet is both modern and well-maintained. There are opportunities to develop and further expand capabilities in both leadership and technical skills. We are looking for someone ideally with a relevant tertiary qualification, however this is not a must, but at least three years of relevant work experience is required. Pukekohe is known for its strong agricultural sector. It is within close proximity to Auckland, while still providing opportunities for outdoor activities and having beautiful countryside at the door step. Pukekohe offers a friendly community, access to quality education and also affordable housing. This is a permanent, full time position and there is a competitive remuneration package ($80,000 - $95,000 depending on experience), including company vehicle and phone for the right candidate.
